English Children songs

You probably know Raffi already.. Although he was a recent discovery for me! And have you already been on a bear hunt with your child? Or met an alligator waiting for the elevator?!

I’ll start with Raffi’s children songs, if you don’t mind! I love the values he shares, he imaginary world some of his songs depict.. and the music itself.

The following songs are all for young kids, let’s say 18 months to 5 year-olds. They teach counting and cause-effect in a simple way, through animals.

This is an action, wintery song, with a country soul. My daughter, 6, and I both love it!

And now, Laurie Berkner and her band. I’m in love with her children songs, I could actually listen to them and sing out loud as if they were adults songs.. Or maybe it’s just me. Deep down, I’m still a child..

PS This song is genius to have your kids brush their teeth!

You have other versions of the bear hunt, but this is the one where you can see the actions.Plus, Michael Rosen is awesome!

German Children songs

Those are songs we learnt during our period in Germany. Let’s start with counting and colors!

Hedgehogs are very popular and common in Germany, so during fall, many families help feed them to get them strong for winter.

On November 11th, German kids celebrate St Martins with hand-made lantern’s and a parade in the woods, while singing together.

Italian Children songs

Some of these come straight from my own childhood folks.. !

The first song explains how from a seed you obtain new plants, trees, and so wood from which we can make tables and other stuff we use – a sort of life cycle!

This is the Italian version of The Itsy Bitsy Spider 🙂

And now, those have been amongst the most famous, sang children songs in Italy over the last 30 years I would say.. They’re all different, you just have to go through them and pick what you like!

French songs

My children used to sing them at the nursery school, and I came to love their simplicity and sweetness. They mostly have animals in it, are funny and perky.

The last ones are from Kids United, a group of 5 French children, who are messangers of Unicef, promoting peace and children’s rights.
